How did your path lead you into real estate?

Rather than follow an industry or a specific path, I’ve always followed my heart when it comes to my career. Early on, I worked for a start-up company here in San Diego that ended up being a transformational experience as it was there that I developed my passion for entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and customer experience. I worked there for several years through its explosive growth and eventual acquisition by a Fortune 500 company. I then went to business school to earn my MBA, then decided to transition to the agency world. I worked in brand and marketing strategy within the agency space for a number of years where I gained a deep understanding of the power of branding, visual storytelling, and digital marketing. Years later, while working as an independent business consultant advising direct-to-consumer brands, I got a call from a friend who’d been a real estate agent for many years who urged me to carve out some time to get my real estate license as saw an opportunity for me to leverage my deep understanding of branding, customer experience, marketing, technology, and passions for architecture and design to build a successful business.

Where did you grow up?

I am very lucky to have grown up here in sunny San Diego. I spent my formative years in Del Cerro where I went to elementary school and subsequently in Rancho San Diego where I attended high school. Then on to college at San Diego State. I tell both of my daughters that they’ve already won the lottery by being born here. Both of them were delivered at Scripps Memorial in La Jolla. We currently live in Rancho Penasquitos.

Who have been your biggest influences in life?

My parents’ work ethic made a big impact on me at an early age. My Mother was a nurse for most of her career. For many of those years, she worked night shifts. I remember my Father taking my sister and me to visit her in the hospital to have dinner together a couple of nights a week. My Father was a City Planner for his entire career. He retired as the City Manager of La Mesa after 30 years working for the city. For many of those years, he took care of my sister and me in the evenings by himself. Along the way, studying to get his Master’s degree. What I took away from seeing them work so hard was that you can push yourself in ways you never thought you could to take care of your family. This has really hit home for me now as I am a Father.

What are your hopes and visions for witt+co.?

I am focused on building a foundation of exemplary real estate experiences for our clients while navigating difficult market conditions. My goal is for anyone who we collaborate with to know us to be good people who do great work. Easy to work with, no drama, communicative, authentic, and transparent.

Your LinkedIn description says “Girl Dad".” What are some of the best things you do with your daughters, and what do you want to instill in them?

I can say with 100% confidence that my daughters are my biggest accomplishment by far. They have reshaped my view of the world and my purpose within it. I want to be a role model for them and I take pride in knowing that they are growing up watching me build a business while still being very active, engaged, and present in their lives.

What are your passions outside of real estate?

I have been creative my entire life so I found myself engaging in creative activities at a young age. Art, design, music, and more. Lately, I have been doing a lot of photography. I was able to commandeer my Father’s old Pentax film camera a couple of years ago and have been enjoying film photography.

Health, wellness, and fitness are essential parts of my day-to-day life. I need to be outdoors and soaking up some sun regularly to feel right with the world.

I am extremely passionate about food, wine, and travel. I didn’t get to travel internationally much until later in life. Was a real game-changer for me. For a couple of years leading up to the pandemic, my wife and I spent a month traveling through Spain and then again in Italy. I am a big believer in spending an extended period of time in one region if you can to really get a sense for the culture and geography.

I fell in love with the art and science of winemaking years ago via trips up to wine country in Northern California with my Father who grew up nearby in San Francisco. I actually sold wine at one point in my career for a couple of producers in the Sonoma region to learn the business.
